Redknapp: 'Young hasn't been fit enough'

Queens Park Rangers manager Harry Redknapp has revealed that Luke Young was not included in any of his matchday squad's last season because he was not fit enough.

The former England international has not featured for the R's since March 2012.

He still has 12 months left to run on his contract at Loftus Road, but Redknapp has conceded that his lack of fitness could result in the club parting company with the 33-year-old.

"He wasn't fit enough this year to be in the squad. He said that he didn't feel he could play. He's still here. We keep paying him every week, so I don't know what next year holds for him really," the Fulham Chronicle quotes Redknapp as saying.

"If he's not fit enough to play, I don't know where you go with it really. Hopefully he'll be fit enough to play."

Young joined QPR from Aston Villa in 2011.
