Carroll: 'I joined QPR to play football'

Tom Carroll has revealed that he left Tottenham Hotspur for Queens Park Rangers on deadline day in order to play more football.

The midfielder, who joined the Championship club on loan, says that staying at White Hart Lane would have meant sitting on the bench.

"I could have stayed at Spurs and sat on the bench but at this stage of my career I feel I need to be playing," he is quoted as saying on Sky Sports News.

Carroll, 21, has had previous loan spells at Leyton Orient and Derby County.
