Southampton moved to third in the Premier League table after snatching a late 1-0 victory over Queens Park Rangers at Loftus Road.

Sadio Mane's strike in stoppage time was the only thing that separated the two sides as Chris Ramsey's caretaker manager's role at QPR began with a defeat.

Goal

Robert Green: He made some questionable decisions with his goal kicks, but was rarely tested throughout the game until the goal in stoppage time. (5/10)

Defence

Nedum Onuoha: The defender failed to keep up with Mane and Elia at times and was unable to prevent the former's goal in stoppage time. (4/10)

Clint Hill: He could have easily been given a second yellow and red following a tackle on Mane, but he stayed on the pitch and struggled to quieten Southampton's forwards. (5/10)

Richard Dunne: He limped off in the second half and was lucky to escape a booking with a crunching tackle on Elia in the first half. 4/10

Steven Caulker: He was unable to keep track of Southampton's forwards at times, but did show strength and ability with some fair tackles. (6/10)

Midfield

Matt Phillips: He looked the most dangerous and lively for QPR in wide areas and delivered some impressive balls in the box. (7/10)

Joey Barton: The midfielder was booked early on, but he proved to be useful in the middle of the park and came close to assisting a goal for Austin. (7/10)

Leroy Fer: He was relatively quiet this afternoon and struggled to get the aim right on his crosses. (5/10)

Armand Traore: He had a chance to score in the second half, but fluffed his header after being given a second opportunity. Other than that, he remained composed throughout the game. (6/10)

Attack

Adel Taarabt: The Moroccan showed some decent skill and tricky feet in the early stages, but he fell away as the game went on. (7/10)

Charlie Austin: The striker got himself into some decent areas and always proved a threat when he had the ball, but he could have done with better service. (6/10)

Substitutes

Mauro Zarate: He seemed as though he had a point to prove when he came on the field in the second half. He was lively and was always looking for the ball, but his final touch let him down. (6/10)

Eduardo Vargas: He was a late addition to the match when he came on for the injured Dunne. (5/10)

Mauricio Isla: He was tasked with darting to and from midfield and defence, but was not on for long enough to make a significant impact. (5/10)

Goal

Fraser Forster: The England international made a sensational stop in the second half to deny a flick-on from Austin and seemed relatively comfortable when called into action. (8/10)

Defence

Matt Targett: Unfortunately for the youngster, he was stretchered off with a head injury following a collision with Phillips. The Southampton man was taken to hospital to undergo scans. (5/10)

Jose Fonte: The defender looked calm and composed throughout the match and came close to scoring with a volley in the first half, but it clattered off the crossbar. (8/10)

Maya Yoshida: He coped well when tasked with moving out wide to cover Targett's position, but he struggled to keep track of Phillips. (6/10)

Nathaniel Clyne: Rarely troubled throughout the game, but he was tested a few times by Traore. (6/10)

Midfield

James Ward-Prowse: Delivered some perfect crosses into the box and his corners were always on point, but he failed to take an early chance from a set piece. (7/10)

Steven Davis: Seemed relatively comfortable on the ball, but squandered a decent first-half chance. (6/10)

Eljero Elia: Caused QPR's back line a lot of trouble with his pace and was one of Southampton's most impressive players on the field. (8/10)

Sadio Mane: His desire in front of goal was eventually rewarded in the 93rd minute of the match when he scored the winner. Throughout the match, he was a thorn in QPR's side. (9/10)

Victor Wanyama: Comfortable throughout and was able to show discipline when needed in the middle of the park. (7/10)

Attack

Graziano Pelle: He struggled to make a big impact on the game and should have won more headers in the box. (5/10)

Substitutes

Florin Gardos: He was forced on the pitch following Targett's injury and seemed relatively composed in defence. (6/10)

Morgan Schneiderlin: Came back from injury in the second half, but eventually found his way into the referee's book and lacked influence on the game. (5/10)
