Park Ji-Sung emerges as the favourite to be named the new captain of Queens Park Rangers after he takes the armband during a pre-season friendly.

New Queens Park Rangers signing Park Ji-Sung was handed the captaincy during his side's pre-season friendly against a Sabah Select XI in Kota Kinabalu this afternoon.

The R's are currently without an official skipper after an internal investigation resulted in Joey Barton being stripped of the responsibility.

Before today's match former Manchester United midfielder Park was considered to be among the leading candidates to be handed the armband on a permanent basis.

Having been given the role by manager Mark Hughes for the ongoing friendly, it has been reported that Park will now keep the job.
