Live Coverage: Chris Ramsey's weekly Queens Park Rangers press conference

Chris Ramsey has revealed that Charlie Austin is back in contention for Queens Park Rangers ahead of their match against Hull City this weekend.

However, Sandro, Leroy Fer and Mauricio Isla all remain sidelined with injuries.

The head coach also spoke about the racism incident involving Chelsea fans in Paris earlier this week.

There were some strong words on the Chelsea racism incident from the Premier League's only black manager, but also a rather upbeat look ahead at this weekend's fixture. 10.05amStaying on the subject of racism, Ramsey adds: "I've experienced a lot of racism in my time in the game. I started in the game in 1978. It get shuffled about and hidden. But I don't want this to be about me, I want the authorities to focus on what happened in Paris so it doesn't happen again. Myself and [director of football Les Ferdinand] being in the roles we are here is a huge achievement for us, but we shouldn't be judged on race. Football as a whole needs to deal with these racists, and people outside football as well. It's a crime."

10.02amRamsey is asked about the racism incident involving Chelsea fans in Paris earlier this week, where a black man was prevented from boarding a train. He replies: "There's no place for racism in football. I don't believe these people are fans of football. I'm interested to see what the authorities do to eradicate this, to see what the sanctions are for these people. As much as this is something that has happened in football, it is still a society issue in general."

10.00amTurning his attention to Saturday's match, Ramsey says: "We'll approach the Hull game like we did the Sunderland game, we will try to be on the front foot. We've worked hard in training and we need to convert that into the game on Saturday. The players have belief, the players believe we can accumulate points and start climbing the table."

9.58amRamsey is asked whether he was offered a role on Tim Sherwood's coaching staff following his appointment at Aston Villa, but he insists that he wasn't: "There was no offer for me to be assistant manager at Aston Villa, I was already in this post."

9.56amRamsey's appointment is until the end of the season for now, although the chairman has said that he could earn a more permanent post. The head coach insists that he's just focusing on the next few games for now: " We're focused on the next few games in the short term. There's a long term project here, but my focus is on the here and now. In whatever role I'm in at this club I will give everything in the best interests of QPR because that's what I do. The staff have all been fantastic. They've been a great support."

9.54amOn his relationship with chairman Tony Fernandes, the head coach tells reporters: "Tony leaves me to get on with it. He asks me questions and we've got a good relationship. What Tony said about my future here was nice, but I'm just focused on the job and what's best for the club."

9.52amRamsey is asked about his squad-selection policy, and he reveals: "Like I've said, anyone who is fit and available will be in my plans, it's a clean slate for everyone."

9.51amOn Leroy Fer's absence, Ramsey says: "Leroy Fer being out is disappointing for us. Leroy is a long-term injury, he won't be back for the foreseeable future. We've got to get on with it though."

9.50amThe head coach starts with injury updates. He reveals: "Sandro is still in his conditioning phase, but Charlie Austin in back in contention. Mauricio Isla is injured so we're going to have re-think there."

9.44amWhile Ramsey will be speaking to the media shortly, goalkeeper Rob Green has already had his say on Saturday's fixture. He told the club's website: "Hopefully they come like buses and we get two or three results on the bounce away from home. The games around us are so important and Hull are just above us and it is one where we can hopefully get three points. We will go into the game with a lot more confidence than we did at Sunderland. We have proved to everyone and ourselves that we can go away from home and pick up results. That monkey is off our back and we can play with a bit more freedom."

9.41amWith Hull just a point above them in the table, QPR know that a win this weekend is a chance to pull further away from the relegation zone, with three points on Saturday potentially enough to lift the Loftus Road side up to 15th.

9.38amRamsey is likely to provide an update on his squad's fitness this morning, with Sandro thought to be close to a return, but Leroy Fer expected to be out for another seven weeks. Shaun Wright-Phillips could also be a topic for discussion after he made his first appearance of the season against Sunderland.

9.35amGoal difference lifted QPR out of the bottom three earlier this month as they beat Sunderland 2-0 at the Stadium of Light. The Hoops haven't played since then, having had last weekend off due to their early exit from the FA Cup.
