Queens Park Rangers 1-0 MK Dons

Danny Gabbidon's second-half header gives Mark Hughes his first win as QPR boss.

Mark Hughes has picked up his first win as Queens Park Rangers boss after the victory over MK Dons in the FA Cup third round this evening.

Danny Gabbidon scored the winner 17 minutes from time by heading home a Shaun Wright-Phillips corner.

The Premier League side failed to dominate their League One opponents, who had numerous chances to upset the odds.

Charlie McDonald scuffed a first-half effort for the visitors before Jabo Ibehre wasted the best chance of the match by heading wide from inside the area.

McDonald again should have put the Dons ahead before Gabbidon rose highest to send Hughes's men through to round four.

The win is QPR's first in the competition for over ten years. They will welcome London neighbours Chelsea to Loftus Road in the next round.
