High-flying PSV Eindhoven will welcome newly-promoted SC Telstar for their gameweek four Eredivisie encounter at Philips Stadion on Saturday.
The current champions have won their first three games of the season, the latest a commanding 4-2 victory over Groningen, while Anthony Correia’s men are yet to earn a win in their first season back in the top flight after a 47-year absence.
Match preview
PSV are not resting on their laurels after claiming back-to-back titles and their 26th top-flight championship last season.
After claiming the Super Cup, the Red and Whites have gone on to win their opening three Eredivisie fixtures with an aggregate score of 12-3.
Peter Bosz’s charges dismissed Sparta Rotterdam 6-1, followed by a hard-fought 2-0 win against FC Twente, and a 4-2 victory over Groningen in their last outing to maintain their 100% record.
The Farmers are overwhelming favourites to record yet another victory in front of their vociferous supporters this weekend.
Their position as odds-on favourites is further strengthened with three consecutive victories recorded against Saturday’s opponents across all competitions.
More so, their record of 12 goals in four fixtures, a feat which is the joint-best with NEC in the top division, should be another source of motivation for the hosts.
Meanwhile, the White Lions began their campaign with losses against Ajax Amsterdam (2-0) and PEC Zwolle (2-0) in their first two matches in the top division.
However, Telstar managed to score their first two goals and earned their first point since returning to the top division in gameweek three.
Nonetheless, the away side will be disappointed that they threw away a two-goal advantage to miss out on registering their first win of the 2025-26 season.
Soufiane Hetli put them in front in the 41st minute, while Patrick Brouwer doubled the advantage just before the break, but a combination of laxity in defence and a loss of concentration denied them their first victory in the current campaign.
Despite what is clearly an encouraging result in their last outing, the visiting side will face their biggest test yet in the nascent season.

Team News
Alassane Plea and Mauro Junior missed out on PSV’s last Eredivisie fixture, owing to injuries the pair sustained in the penultimate game against Twente.
The absence of Plea forced Bosz to ring changes in his team, with Dennis Man coming in on the right wing, Ruben Van Bommel on the left, while the Croatian veteran Ivan Perisic led the line.
In defence, Kiliann Sildillia was drafted to the left-back position with Mauro Junior out injured, and it remains to be seen if the latter will be fit in time for this game on Saturday.
Up front, the hosts have found the back of the net 12 times this season, but what is impressive is that they have been able to spread the goals within the team.
Like Van Bommel, Guus Til, and Esmir Bajraktarevic have two goals each to their names, but it remains to be seen if the Bosnian could force his way into the starting team.
In terms of absentees, Telstar have better luck, with Mo Hamdaoui, who has been on the sidelines since last term, the only injury doubt.
Hetli and Brouwer broke their duck last time out, and they are likely to be handed a starter’s shirt for this encounter.
PSV Eindhoven possible starting lineup:
Kovar; Dest, Gasiorowski, Sildillia, Flamingo; Saibari, Schouten, Til; Van Bommel, Perisic, Man
Telstar possible starting lineup:
Koeman; Bakker, Offerhaus, Koswal; Hardeveld, Rossen, Owusu, Noslin; Brouwer, Van de Kamp; Hetli
We say: PSV Eindhoven 5-0 Telstar
Despite PSV’s attacking prowess, they tend to be open at the rear. They faced 19 shots against Twente and 17 when they clashed with Groningen, with two goals conceded in three games.
While they are likely to be tested on Saturday, their overall quality should help them secure an emphatic victory over the visitors.
