Manchester United, Liverpool 'handed boost in hopes of signing Edinson Cavani'

'Cavani boost' for Man United, Liverpool

Manchester United and Liverpool have reportedly received a boost in their pursuit of landing Paris Saint-Germain striker Edinson Cavani.

The Premier League rivals have both been linked with a move for the 27-year-old Uruguayan, and a deal could now be struck after the player told his agent to engineer him a move to England, according to the Daily Star.

The same report claims that PSG are closing in on a move to sign Angel di Maria from Real Madrid, meaning that the French club will look to offload one of their big name stars this summer.

Cavani scored 78 goals in 104 appearances during his time at Napoli before moving to the Parisians, where he scored 16 times in 30 games last season.
