Ten-man Paris Saint-Germain beat Lille to win third straight Coupe de la Ligue

Ten-man PSG win Coupe de la Ligue

Paris Saint-Germain have won the Coupe de la Ligue for the third year in a row thanks to a narrow 2-1 win over Lille at the Stade de France.

Lille looked on course for an upset when PSG midfielder Adrien Rabiot was sent off with the score at 1-1, but Angel di Maria scored the winner to earn the capital club a record-extending sixth League Cup title.

Di Maria spurned an early chance for the Ligue 1 leaders, but they did take the lead five minutes before the break when Javier Pastore's bouncing shot took a deflection and snuck into the corner.

Lille keeper Vincent Enyeama was convinced that Layvin Kurzawa was interfering in an offside position, but the officials let the goal stand.

Lille drew level shortly after the break through Djibril Sidibe, whose free kick went through the PSG wall and found the bottom corner.

With 20 minutes remaining, Lille's hopes of causing an upset were boosted when Rabiot received a second yellow card, but they soon shot themselves in the foot.

A misjudged header set Di Maria away and his mind was made up to shoot from at least 30 yards when Enyeama raced out and got nowhere near the ball, allowing Di Maria to roll the ball past him and just over the line before Marko Basa could get back and slide clear.
