How Paris Saint-Germain could line up against Rennes

How PSG could line up against Rennes

Paris Saint-Germain manager Mauricio Pochettino has a big decision to make on the right-hand side for his side's Ligue 1 battle with Rennes on Sunday lunchtime.

Les Parisiens continue to cope without defensive duo Sergio Ramos and Juan Bernat for the time being - although the latter is back in training - while youngster Ismael Gharbi is also absent due to a back problem.

Lionel Messi recovered from a bone bruise in time to start and score his first goal for the club against Manchester City in the Champions League, with the Argentine back in the first XI amid Angel Di Maria's continental suspension.

However, with Pochettino keen to avoid aggravating the injury, a well-rested Di Maria may be preferred from the off here as Messi enjoys a hard-earned rest, with Neymar and Kylian Mbappe holding their spots.

Marco Verratti also returned from injury in midweek and caught the eye with a typically composed midfield display, and the Italian should be good to go again alongside Idrissa Gueye, but Leandro Paredes is a contender to replace Ander Herrera.

Abdou Diallo will hope to earn a recall at left-back over Nuno Mendes in an otherwise untouched four-man defence comprising Achraf Hakimi, Marquinhos and Presnel Kimpembe.

Gianluigi Donnarumma has had to be patient for minutes at PSG and was given the nod for the win over City, but Keylor Navas could wrestle the gloves back off him this week.

PSG possible starting lineup: Navas; Hakimi, Marquinhos, Kimpembe, Diallo; Verratti, Gueye, Paredes; Di Maria, Mbappe, Neymar
