Paris Saint-Germain winger Javier Pastore has admitted that the arrival of Angel di Maria will make it harder for him to earn regular starting berths.
Di Maria joined Les Parisiens for a reported £44m on Thursday after failing to scale the heights expected of him during his year-long stint with Manchester United last season.
Although Pastore concedes that he is most at risk to drop out of the first XI, the Argentine says that his compatriot's arrival can only be a positive thing for the French giants overall.
"With Di Maria here it will be hard to be in the starting XI but it is good news for the club. He is a fantastic player and I think he can bring many things to the team," he told Canal +.
"We hope that he will give us those little things we missed in the years before to help us move past the quarter-final of the Champions League."
The 27-year-old was in attendance to watch the French champions get their Ligue 1 campaign underway with a 1-0 win at Lille, despite playing with 10 men for over an hour on Friday.
