Philippe Montanier praises Rennes teamwork following Paris Saint-Germain draw

Montanier praises Rennes teamwork

Rennes coach Philippe Montanier has praised the united spirit of his side as they earned a well-fought point at home against Paris Saint-Germain.

PSG looked set to move into top spot in Ligue 1 when they went ahead through Zoumana Camara before the break, but Rennes were able to rally to earn a point following an equaliser from midfielder Abdoulaye Doucoure early in the second half.

"It's satisfying to have equalised. The second half was satisfying, too," the Rennes coach told reporters after the game.

"We were more enterprising, more incisive going forward against a Paris team that is always difficult to play against. We knew that they are capable of exploiting the slightest weakness - you saw that - so we couldn't show them any weakness.

"We also wanted to optimise our use of the ball, which we struggled to do in the first half and did better in the second. I think we stayed very united."

The point sees Rennes sitting in fifth spot in the French top division.
