Ibrahimovic named Ligue 1's best player

Paris Saint-Germain striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic has been named the Ligue 1 Player of the Year for 2012-13.

The Swede has scored 29 goals in the French first division with just one more round of matches remaining this season, helping PSG win the title.

"It's been a difficult season," Ligue1.com quotes him as saying. "As we were favourites, everyone wanted to beat us, but we've ended up winning.

"My best memory in Paris will be to have won the title with a club that had been waiting for it for 19 years.

"So I've done something with PSG and I'm very proud of that, especially as I didn't know much about French football. Thanks to the whole city of Paris. This award is for everyone."

PSG goalkeeper Salvatore Sirigu was named the best goalkeeper in Ligue 1 this campaign, while Carlo Ancelotti was named the best coach along with Saint-Etienne's Christophe Galtier.
