Carlo Ancelotti: 'Angel di Maria is a team player'

Former Real Madrid boss Carlo Ancelotti backs Argentine international Angel di Maria to have a big impact at Paris Saint-Germain.

Former Real Madrid boss Carlo Ancelotti has said that Angel di Maria will take Paris Saint-Germain to the next level.

Ancelotti managed Di Maria during their time together at Real Madrid, before the latter was sold to Manchester United last summer.

Di Maria has since moved onto another of Ancelotti's former clubs, PSG, and the experienced Italian has said that the 27-year-old's unselfishness will be of huge benefit to the French champions.

"Di Maria will help PSG progress, because he is a team player more than anything else. He is not a selfish player at all," Ancelotti told Le Parisien.

"I played him in midfield at Madrid because we needed to find a solution after Sami Khedira got injured. He did very well in midfield. But I do not think that is his best position. He is even better in attack. He could play on either wing and even as a centre forward."

Di Maria played a key role in Real Madrid's Champions League triumph under Ancelotti in 2014.
