Sunday's Ligue 1 predictions and previews including Rennes vs. Paris Saint-Germain

Today's Ligue 1 predictions include Paris Saint-Germain's clash with Rennes, and a contest between Le Havre and Monaco.

Angers vs. Lille (Sunday, 2pm)

Sunday’s first Ligue 1 action of the new campaign will begin with Angers hosting Lille at Stade Raymond Kopa in Pays de la Loire.

Last season Les Scoistes wound up 13th with 36 points, 10 places below Lille, who finished in the top three for the second time this decade.

We say: Angers 0-2 Lille

While Angers have experienced players, we do not believe they have the quality to trouble a side as balanced as Lille, and we expect the visitors' talent and continuity to pull through on matchday one.

Le Havre vs. Monaco (Sunday, 4.15pm)

Competing in their fourth consecutive Ligue 1 campaign, Le Havre will open their 2026-27 account on Sunday when they welcome Monaco to Stade Oceane.

The Normandy club finished three points above the relegation playoff line last season, in 14th place, while Monaco were seventh, claiming the final Conference League qualifying place.

Filipe Luis is a savvy defensive mind, and we expect him to adapt to Le Havre’s game plan and find a way past the home side thanks to his team's creativity and attacking depth, which is much stronger than the home team's.

Rennes vs. Paris Saint-Germain (Sunday, 7.45pm)

Paris Saint-Germain begin their Ligue 1 title defence on Sunday when they open the new campaign at Roazhon Park against Rennes.

The exceptional heatwaves this summer caused the change of venue from the Parc des Princes to Brittany with PSG’s home incurring severe damage.

We say: Rennes 1-1 Paris Saint-Germain

Rennes are a formidable opponent with a striker in excellent form (Lepaul), and we believe they can pull out a result against a PSG side that may be a little fatigued with their demanding schedule.
