Paris Saint-Germain captain Thiago Silva to miss Barcelona clash

PSG captain Thiago Silva is to miss his side's Champions League quarter-final second leg against Barcelona due to a thigh problem.

Paris Saint-Germain captain Thiago Silva has been ruled out of Tuesday's Champions League quarter-final second leg against Barcelona through injury.

The defender suffered a thigh problem during last week's first-leg defeat, forcing him to miss PSG's 3-1 win over Nice in Ligue 1 on Saturday.

"Having initially being named in the squad for the quarter-final against Barcelona, Brazilian defender Thiago Silva will not ultimately make the trip," read a club statement. "The captain of Paris Saint-Germain will therefore remain at the Ooredoo training centre to work on his return to action."

Silva has scored two goals in 30 games for Paris Saint-Germain so far this season.
