Portugal lineup vs. Croatia: Predicted XI for UEFA Nations League showdown

Ronaldo gone, Fernandes banned: Predicted Portugal XI against Croatia

Suspended playmaker Bruno Fernandes is among four Portugal players to have left the camp ahead of Monday's UEFA Nations League clash with Croatia in Split.

The Manchester United man picked up his second booking of the tournament in Friday's 5-1 drubbing of Poland, which guaranteed the Selecao's first-placed finish in League A Group 1.

Roberto Martinez has unsurprisingly decided that there is no use keeping Fernandes around for this game, and the trio of Pedro Neto, Bernardo Silva and Cristiano Ronaldo have also returned to their clubs.

A couple of those voids will be filled by Fabio Silva and Geovany Quenda, both called up from the Under-21s, while Tiago Djalo should be involved after missing out on Portugal's 23-man squad against Poland.

Djalo could comprise one part of an entirely new backline for the visitors, as Rui Silva, Joao Cancelo, Tomas Araujo and Nuno Tavares should all come into contention for starting slots.

Paris Saint-Germain midfielder Joao Neves - taken off at half time on Friday - may be the only starter from the Poland pummelling to hold their place, as Vitinha should plug the Bernardo Silva gap in midfield.

There is every chance that Fabio Silva will come straight into the starting lineup at the tip of the attack, supported by the trio of Joao Felix, Francisco Conceicao and Trincao.

Portugal possible starting lineup: R. Silva; Cancelo, Djalo, Araujo, Tavares; Vitinha, Neves; Conceicao, Felix, Trincao; F. Silva
