Mikael Silvestre trains with Portland Timbers

Portland Timbers owner Meritt Paulson has confirmed that former Manchester United defender Mikael Silvestre has begun training with the MLS club.

The 35-year-old has been without a club since leaving German side Werder Bremen in the summer, but he had been training with former club United in October.

"Look forward to seeing Mikael Silvestre in Timbers green at training today (Tuesday)," Paulson wrote on his Twitter page.

Silvestre has not played a competitive match since January 2012.
