Philadelphia vs. NY Red Bulls - prediction, team news, lineups

New York Red Bulls are gunning for a third league win on the trot on Sunday when they travel to Subaru Park to take on Philadelphia Union.

The home side are unbeaten in each of their last two games after suffering back-to-back defeats prior to that.

Match preview

Philadelphia Union still await their first home league win of the season following a 1-1 draw against New England Revolution on Thursday.

Two goals in quick succession from Teal Bunbury and Kacper Przybylko in the final 10 minutes ensured a share of the spoils in Chester.

Jim Curtin's men are just outside the playoff places in the Eastern Conference on goal difference, and a win in this one would move them into the top seven.

Given their record in this fixture, Sunday's hosts will be poised to continue a run of three straight home wins against the visitors.

New York Red Bulls made it two home wins in a row following a 2-0 victory over Toronto FC on Saturday.

Frankie Amaya and Caden Clark were on target in either half to hand Gerhard Struber's men a well-deserved three points.

The Metro have now recovered from their shaky start to the season which saw them lose each of the first two matches.

Sunday's visitors are in fourth place in the Eastern Conference at the moment, two points adrift of current leaders CF Montreal with a game in hand.

Team News

Philadelphia's Stuart Findlay misses out with a muscle injury which has kept him out since the start of the season.

Ilson Junior is sidelined with a groin problem, while Jack de Vries is expected to sit the game out due to a concussion.

Youba Diarra is yet to feature for the away side since picking up a muscle injury in his side's season-opener against Sporting Kansas City.

Patryk Klimala is unavailable for personal reasons, and the duo of Florian Valot and Jason Pendant are still nursing knee and shoulder injuries respectively.

Philadelphia Union possible starting lineup:

Blake; Wagner, Elliott, Glesnes, Mbaizo; McGlynn, Flach, Bedoya; Monteiro, Santos, Przybylko

New York Red Bulls possible starting lineup:

Miguel; Gutman, Long, Nealis, Duncan; Davis, Amaya, White; Clark, Fabio, Casseres

We say: Philadelphia Union 1-0 New York Red Bulls

We are anticipating a low scoring affair in this one with both teams renowned for being defensively frugal. However, we are also tipping the home side to claim a narrow win at the sound of the full-time whistle.
