Clubs meet release clause of Peterborough United star Marcus Maddison

Clubs meet Maddison release clause

Peterborough United chairman Darragh MacAnthony has revealed that at least one club has indicated a willingness to meet Marcus Maddison's release clause.

An agreement between MacAnthony and Maddison is likely to result in one of the club's star men moving on this summer, with Leeds United, Nottingham Forest and Sunderland having all been linked with the 24-year-old.

On social media, MacAnthony has acknowledged the interest being shown in Maddison, but suggests that no agreement has been reached regarding how Peterborough would receive any transfer fee.

Maddison has spent the last four years at Peterborough, with a total of 42 goals being scored in 177 appearances in all competitions.

The player recently penned a new contract with the League One outfit, but it came with a promise from MacAnthony that the attacker could leave should the club not earn promotion to the second tier during the most recent campaign.
