Oldham Athletic call police over reported Darren Kelly death threats

Oldham call police over Kelly threats

Oldham Athletic have called police over reports that a death threat has been sent to new manager Darren Kelly.

The League One club appointed the 35-year-old Northern Irishman at the start of May but he has since had to refute claims that he is a supporter of the IRA.

A statement on the Oldham site read: "Oldham Athletic AFC are aware of threats made against individuals connected with the club.

"These matters have been passed to the police and the club will be making no further comments on this subject."

Oldham finished 15th in the League One table this season, seven points above the relegation places.
