Jose Baxter enjoyed Everton banter

Oldham Athletic's Jose Baxter says that he enjoyed some banter with his former Everton teammates in their FA Cup tie yesterday.

Jose Baxter has said that he enjoyed some friendly banter with his former teammates in Oldham Athletic's FA Cup tie against Everton.

The Latics striker, who left Goodison Park in the summer, was part of the side that earned a replay against their Premier League opponents yesterday with a 2-2 draw.

The 21-year-old told the Press Association: "It's only friendly banter like 'I'll see you soon' and [Leighton Baines] having a little bit of a joke.

"They're proper professionals. They wouldn't disrespect me or the club and say they're going to beat us. They really are top lads and the performances they put in for Everton show how good they are.

"Instead of them being my teammates and my manager, they were the opposition, so it was a bit of an awkward one but I didn't half enjoy it."

Baxter turned down a new deal with Everton last year, deciding to pursue regular first-team football.
