Report: Nottingham Forest's Lars Veldwijk to be loaned out

Lars Veldwijk to be loaned out?

Out-of-favour Nottingham Forest striker Lars Veldwijk has reportedly edged closer to joining Dutch side PEC Zwolle on a season-long loan.

The 23-year-old, who signed a three-year contract with Forest after joining for an undisclosed fee from Excelsior last summer, failed to score in 14 appearances in his debut season in England.

The forward did not start a match in the Championship, appearing 11 times as a substitute and making all of his three starts in cup competitions.

Veldwijk scored 30 goals in his final Excelsior season, firing them to promotion from the Dutch second tier and, according to BBC Radio Nottingham, he is now set to return to his homeland with KNVB Beker runners-up Zwolle.

Forest's fellow Championship side Brentford, now managed by former Excelsior boss Marinus Dijkhuizen, have also been linked with a move for the frontman.
