Championship side Nottingham Forest are reportedly keen to secure a loan deal for Newcastle United forward Dwight Gayle.

Nottingham Forest have reportedly identified Newcastle United forward Dwight Gayle as a potential loan addition.

With Newcastle having already signed three players this month, it has been claimed that Steve Bruce is prepared to loan winger Christian Atsu to Forest before the end of January.

However, according to the Daily Mail, there could be another Magpies player making the switch to the City Ground in the coming hours.

The report claims that Forest want to sign the proven second-tier goalscorer on loan, with the obligation of signing the 29-year-old for £15m should they earn promotion to the Premier League.

Gayle is currently sidelined with a hamstring injury, although the the former Crystal Palace and West Bromwich Albion man is due back next month.

Much could depend on whether Newcastle are able to bring in a replacement on deadline day.
