O'Driscoll: 'McLaughlin has impressed me'

Nottingham Forest manager Sean O'Driscoll has revealed that he could introduce Stephen McLaughlin to the first-team picture immediately if the winger completes a move to the City Ground.

McLaughin recently underwent a trial with the Championship club and could complete a move to Forest from Derry City in the near future, and O'Driscoll believes that the 22-year-old could have an immediate impact.

O'Driscoll told the Irish Independent: "He looks to be a talented boy. He can play on the right or the left, he is 22 and has great potential.

"I don't think you can wait a couple of years for him to come through. He has impressed in training. The dilemma is whether you throw him in because he has that potential.

"We want to be in a position where we can give him a chance. He has potential, and this club has a history of bringing through good young players. We want to continue that."

It is believed that Forest will pay in the region of £200,000 for McLaughlin.
