Kyle Lafferty could leave Norwich City to gain match sharpness for Euro 2016

Northern Ireland's star forward Kyle Lafferty could leave Norwich City so that he can play more football ahead of next year's Euro 2016 finals.

Northern Ireland forward Kyle Lafferty has admitted that he might have to leave Norwich City in January so that he can gain match sharpness for next summer's Euro 2016 finals in France.

The 28-year-old scored seven times in qualifying to fire Northern Ireland to their first major tournament in 30 years, but he has featured just twice off the bench for Premier League side Norwich this season.

"I'm going to have to sit down with the manager (Alex Neil) in January and have a discussion with him," Lafferty told the Belfast Telegraph.

"I know that I will need to play football in the new year and going into the Euros.

"I'd love to be playing at Norwich but if I have to go out on loan or be sold to play football that might be the way it will be."

Northern Ireland won six and lost only one of their Euro 2016 qualifying matches, but they are without a win in 10 friendlies - a run they will attempt to stop when they host Latvia on Friday.
