Manchester City slip up at Norwich City

Manchester City drop two points away at Norwich City as they are held to a goalless draw in the Premier League.

Manchester City have been held to a goalless draw by Norwich City at Carrow Road in the Premier League.

The result means that the Citizens are now two points behind leaders Chelsea in third place in the league table, while Chris Hughton's side remain just above the relegation zone.

The hosts were looking comfortable in the early stages of the encounter and had the game's first chance after 16 minutes.

Gary Hooper collected a loose ball on the edge of the City box and teed up Nathan Redmond, whose final shot went wide.

Norwich thought that they had taken the lead just a couple of minutes later when Hooper tapped home from close range after Joe Hart had kept out Joseph Yobo's header, but the referee disallowed the effort because of an offside offence.

Man City stepped up their game after the half-hour mark and almost took the lead on 35 minutes when Alvaro Negredo's header came back off the crossbar.

Manuel Pellegrini's side had two chances in a minute just before the hour mark, but failed to take either of them.

First Martin Olsson cleared away Stevan Jovetic's header at the back post, and then the City forward failed to get his effort on target.

The visitors dominated the rest of the game with David Silva firing into the side-netting with 15 minutes remaining on the clock, but they had to settle for a point.
