Late goals earn Norwich City win over Augsburg

Norwich City score twice in the final 13 minutes to earn a 2-1 victory over Bundesliga outfit Augsburg.

Late goals from Youssouf Mulumbu and Lewis Grabban have earned Norwich City a 2-1 triumph over German club Augsburg.

Augsburg started the better of the two teams in Prien and after they failed to make the most of a couple of early openings, former Sunderland forward Ji Dong-Won saw a close-range effort saved by John Ruddy.

Norwich responded through Alex Tettey and Wes Hoolahan, but both midfielders sent their efforts from distance over the crossbar.

Just before the half-hour mark, Brazilian midfielder Caiuby was provided with a chance for the Bundesliga outfit from a narrow angle, but again, Ruddy was on hand to make the save.

Ji was proving to be a handful for Augsburg, but after being played through on goal just before the break, he blazed his effort over the bar.

However, six minutes into the second half, Augsburg finally broke the deadlock through Piotr Trochowski, who fired a free kick past Ruddy from 25 yards.

Moments later, Sascha Molders almost made it two after a burst down the right-hand side, but his shot was comfortably saved by Ruddy.

Augsburg had dominated most of the play for the first hour, but the final third of the match belonged to the Canaries, who saw both Harry Toffolo and Grabban go close to an equaliser.

The leveller came with 13 minutes left when Mulumbu rounded off a well-worked move, and the DR Congo international turned provider in the final minute as he set Grabban through on goal to provide the finish past Alex Manninger.
