Norwich City striker Ricky van Wolfswinkel has hit out at the club following a disappointing first season in England.
The 25-year-old, who recently joined Saint-Etienne on loan, scored just two goals in 27 games last term after moving to Carrow Road for a record £8.5m from Sporting Lisbon.
While insisting that his time with the Canaries has not slowed his career, Van Wolfswinkel claims that the team's brand of negative football "hurt" him.
"I did not like my last year in England but I do not think it has slowed my career," he is quoted as saying by Sky Sports News. "I was hurt by it. I could not show all my qualities or play every week, plus the team did not practice good football.
"You learn a lot when you succeed, but maybe we learn more when going through a bad period. It happens, and I came out stronger mentally. It's allowed me to target a lot of things I need to do differently."
Van Wolfswinkel has scored two goals in 14 games for Saint-Etienne so far this season.
