Phelan leaves Norwich role

Norwich City have confirmed that first-team coach Mike Phelan has left the club by mutual consent.

The 52-year-old's contract at Carrow Road has been terminated "following an approach by Mike to the club".

Phelan took up the role on November 20 following a five-year spell working under Sir Alex Ferguson at Manchester United.

"Mike, a Canary hall of fame member and former captain of Norwich City, leaves with the very best wishes of everyone at the club for the future," read a statement on Norwich's official website.

The ex-midfielder spent four years as a player with the Canaries between 1985 and 1989 before a brief stint as assistant manager during the mid-1990s.
