Neil admits he enjoyed being 'unknown'

Norwich City manager Alex Neil has admitted that he enjoyed being relatively unknown when he took his first managerial role in England.

The 33-year-old moved to Carrow Road from Scottish side Hamilton Academical in January and has gone on to guide the team to a Championship playoff final.

"People knew about me in Scotland because I had been a player there with Hamilton for the last 10 years or so," The Express quotes Neil as saying. "I don't think anybody really knew me down here in England when I arrived - not even most of the Norwich players.

"But that may have helped me in a way because there were no preconceptions and I haven't had to change one thing in my football philosophy."

Neil has guided the Canaries to 16 wins out of his 24 games in charge.
