Howson: 'Norwich can progress without Lambert'

Norwich City midfielder Jonny Howson has insisted that the club can still progress in the Premier League after the departure of manager Paul Lambert.

The Scot left Carrow Road for Aston Villa last month and was quickly replaced by former Birmingham City boss Chris Hughton.

Despite Lambert's exit, Howson believes that it is up to the players to help the club push on.

"Paul Lambert did a terrific job here and it is our responsibility now as players and the staff coming in to carry that momentum on," he said.

"I don't think it is a case of it just being all Paul Lambert, because the players went out there and achieved [a 12th-placed finish].

"It is about getting a mix between managers and staff, then all helping each other out."

Lambert signed Howson from Leeds United on a three-year deal in January.
