Norwich City 1-2 Leicester City

David Nugent scores the winner as Leicester City move into the quarter-finals of the FA Cup at the expense of Norwich City.

Championship side Leicester City have advanced through to the quarter-finals of the FA Cup with a 2-1 victory at Norwich City of the Premier League.

The visiting Foxes started the tie brightly and broke the deadlock with five minutes on the clock. After Leicester's fourth successive corner, centre-back Sean St Ledger was on hand to glance a header past young goalkeeper Jed Steer in the home goal.

Norwich responded by winning a penalty in the 23rd minute after Leicester goalkeeper Kasper Schmeichel was adjudged to have brought down Elliott Bennett inside the area. Schmeichel saved the resultant spot kick from Wes Hoolahan, but the Norwich midfielder was on hand to convert the rebound.

Leicester thought they had retaken the lead in the 33rd minute, but Wes Morgan's back-heeled effort had not crossed the line according to Mike Dean and his assistant.

Both teams created chances to score the tie's third goal, and the winning goal arrived in the 71st minute. David Nugent collected a header from strike partner Jermaine Beckford before rounding Steer and trolling the ball into an empty net.

Hoolahan had the Canaries' best chance to score a second equaliser, but he shot over from 12 yards out.

As Norwich pushed for a levelling goal, Leicester went close to scoring their third of the afternoon but Beckford's effort struck the post in stoppage time.

Despite exerting large amounts of pressure in the remaining minutes, Paul Lambert's Norwich were unable to find the goal to forceda replay at the King Power Stadium.
