Danny Emerton departs Northampton Town

Danny Emerton has had his contract with League Two outfit Northampton Town terminated with immediate effect.

The 22-year-old started his professional career with Hull City, but departed the Tigers for Northampton on a free transfer at the start of this season.

He made 20 appearances in the early part of the season, but has not featured since Chris Wilder took charge at the end of January.

The midfielder's contract was due to come to an end this summer, but he has been allowed to depart with still two months of the campaign remaining.
