Chris Wilder: 'Northampton Town can compete in League Two'

Wilder: 'We can compete'

Northampton Town manager Chris Wilder has praised his side's performance in today's clash against Fleetwood Town, despite losing 2-0.

A brace from Cod Army striker Gareth Evans was enough to see off the beleaguered Cobblers at Highbury, but Wilder has claimed that his side are more than able to complete in League Two.

"I didn't think there was a lot in the game, especially in the second half and on another day we could have definitely got something here," the 46-year-old told reporters.

"We were well in the game, we perhaps needed to be a touch better in the final third but we pushed a good team really well.

"We've got enough about us to compete in this league and we have to now go and turn a decent performance into three points next week."

Northampton are currently at the bottom of League Two, five points from safety.
