Bautheac wants Nice stay

Eric Bautheac has played down talk linking him with a move away from Nice.

The 25-year-old, who has scored seven goals in 31 appearances in Ligue 1 this season, has reportedly caught the attention of Newcastle United in recent weeks.

Marseille and Lazio are also believed to be monitoring the attacking midfielder, but he said that he wants to remain with Les Aiglons next year.

"Of course it's flattering when a club like Newcastle, OM or Lazio are following me, but I signed a three-year contract with Nice," he said during a webchat with L'Equipe.

"I really want to experience the new stadium so I will do all I can to still be here next season. But we will have to see what the directors want."

Bautheac joined Nice from Dijon last summer.
