Report: Newcastle United join race to sign Benik Afobe

Newcastle United could reportedly join Norwich City in making a bid for Wolverhampton Wanderers striker Benik Afobe.

Wolverhampton Wanderers striker Benik Afobe is a transfer target for Newcastle United, according to a report.

The 22-year-old has already been the subject of a bid by Norwich City, which the Championship club rejected.

According to the Express & Star, Newcastle have become the latest side to show an interest in the player, who ended last season with 32 goals to his name - the highest tally in England's top four leagues.

Newcastle are also thought to be tracking Queens Park Rangers forward Charlie Austin, although their interest in the England hopeful has seemingly cooled of late due to his lofty price tag.
