Nile Ranger leaves Newcastle United

Newcastle United have confirmed that Nile Ranger has left the club by mutual consent.

The 21-year-old striker, who has had a number of disciplinary problems in the past two years, was recently released on bail by police following his arrest on suspicion of rape.

"Newcastle United can confirm that Nile Ranger has today left the club by mutual consent," read a statement from the Magpies.

Ranger signed his first professional contract with Newcastle in 2009.
