Ranger released on bail

Newcastle United striker Nile Ranger has been released on bail following his arrest on suspicion of rape.

The 21-year-old was detained by police for questioning over an incident, which is alleged to have occurred in a hotel between Wednesday and Thursday.

A woman is said to have claimed that she was sexually attacked by a Newcastle player, which later resulted in the arrest of Ranger from an address in Forest Hall.

After being interviewed for hours by the police, the controversial forward left the Wallsend police station.
