Newcastle United boss Alan Pardew positive over deal for Clement Grenier

Pardew upbeat over Grenier deal

Newcastle United manager Alan Pardew has expressed hope that the club will sign Lyon midfielder Clement Grenier before the transfer window closes on Friday evening.

The Magpies have reportedly made a sizable bid for the 23-year-old following the sale of Yohan Cabaye to Paris Saint-Germain.

When asked if he feels confident that a deal could be completed for Grenier, Pardew told TEAMtalk: "I don't know. We have two days left and we will have to wait and see. I'm obviously hopeful.

"[Grenier] has tremendous creative technical ability and he's a player that Newcastle fans would love to see at the football club. But he's still not our player, so until he is, I will wax lyrical about him then."

Newcastle have completed the loan signing of Luuk de Jong from Borussia Monchengladbach this week.
