Newcastle United lodge 'substantial' offer for Lyon's Clement Grenier

Newcastle United have reportedly upped their pursuit of Lyon midfielder Clement Grenier.

The Premier League outfit have been linked with a move for the 23-year-old due to the impending departure of Yohan Cabaye.

It has now emerged that the Magpies have offered a 'substantial' bid to the French outfit for Grenier's services, according to Sky Sports News.

Cabaye is expected to leave St James' Park before the close of the window on Friday after the midfielder reportedly underwent a medical at Paris Saint-Germain yesterday.
