Alan Pardew denies Yohan Cabaye sale

Newcastle United boss Alan Pardew has quelled suggestions that Yohan Cabaye could be sold to Barcelona.

The Spanish outfit have been linked with an £8m move for the talented French midfielder, but Pardew has labelled the bid "purely speculative".

"The interest is purely speculative. We have had no contact and certainly no offer, and obviously we wouldn't even consider an offer anywhere near that region," he told reporters.

Cabye joined Newcastle from Lille last summer.
