Newcastle United are reportedly unlikely to sign Leicester City midfielder James Maddison in the January transfer window.
The 26-year-old was linked with a move to Newcastle in the summer, but he remained at Leicester where he has scored seven goals and provided four assists in 14 games this season.
His impressive form led to a call-up to the England World Cup squad, while the Magpies were expected to make a move to sign the Leicester player in January.
However, according to the Daily Mail, Newcastle are unlikely to make a bid to bring Maddison to St James' Park in the January transfer window.
While signings could be made by Newcastle, there is not expected to be an enormous financial outlay, which would make a move for Maddison difficult to complete, with the potential transfer thought to be expensive.
The midfielder is currently in Qatar for the 2022 World Cup, where he missed the opening two games through injury, while he was an unused substitute against Wales.
