Shola Ameobi admits that he would leave Newcastle United gracefully if the club decided to part ways with the striker.

Newcastle United striker Shola Ameobi has admitted that he would walk away from the club with no hard feelings if the Premier League outfit decided to give him the boot.

The 31-year-old, who has expressed that he wants to end his playing career at St James' Park, has one year remaining on his current contract.

"[My future] hasn't been discussed yet," Ameobi told The Chronicle. "Everyone knows my feeling about being at this club. We just have to see what happens.

"They might want to go in a different direction. That's fine by me as well. But I've always said as long as I'm wanted here, I'll be a Newcastle United player. We'll see what happens."

Ameobi could make his 50th appearance for the Magpies in tomorrow evening's Europa League clash against Benfica.
