Agent: Newcastle United 'seriously interested' in Vurnon Anita

Newcastle United are 'seriously interested' in signing Ajax midfielder Vurnon Anita, according to the player's agent.

The Magpies reportedly had a £4m bid for the 23-year-old Dutch international, who can also play at left-back, rejected last month.

Agent Harry Lulofs said: "There is serious interest from Newcastle. A move to the Premier League is so tempting for him. We have to resolve the situation quickly."

Anita made his Ajax debut in 2005 and has since made 103 Eredivisie appearances, scoring five goals.
