Ajax reject Newcastle United bid for Vurnon Anita

Ajax have reportedly rejected a £4m offer from Newcastle United for midfielder Vurnon Anita.

Agent Harry Lulofs revealed over the weekend that the Magpies were interested in Anita and had lodged a bid for the 23-year-old.

The Amsterdam club have responded to Newcastle's interest by demanding that they double their initial bid or end their pursuit of the player, according to The Sun.

Anita, who has also been linked with Aston Villa, has been capped three times by the Netherlands.
