Report: Hoddle wants Newcastle job

Former England manager Glenn Hoddle has reportedly emerged as a contender for the managerial vacancy at Newcastle United.

The Magpies are currently looking for a new boss following Alan Pardew's move to Crystal Palace this week.

Hoddle is currently a first-team coach at fellow Premier League side Queens Park Rangers, whom he joined back in August.

The 57-year-old has not managed a team since his two-year spell as Wolverhampton Wanderers boss between 2004 and 2006.

According to The Chronicle, Hoddle is interested in the Newcastle job. It is believed that he has good rapport with chief scout Graham Carr and would be receptive to the club's vision of a head coach model.

Hoddle has also managed England, Swindon Town, Chelsea, Tottenham Hotspur and Southampton during his career.
