Peter Lovenkrands: 'Newcastle United can finish in the top eight'

Peter Lovenkrands thinks that Newcastle United can finish in the top eight next season.

Peter Lovenkrands has said that Newcastle United can finish in the top eight this season.

The Dane was part of the Newcastle squad that finished fifth in 2012, and says that he has been impressed with the signings they have made so far.

However, the 34-year-old feels that team spirit is vital if the Magpies want to emulate the achievements of a few seasons ago.

He is quoted as saying by the Evening Chronicle: "There are a lot of foreign players there now. They need to get bonding and get that team spirit back together.

"If they can get that back to how it was two or three years ago they have a chance.

"The club is so special and they can get these things together they are a club that can kick on. They should be finishing top eight every season. So I really hope they can get a good start to the season."

Newcastle begin their Premier League campaign with a home tie against Manchester City.
