Robin van Persie: "I don't need to have the limelight"

Van Persie: "I don't need to have the limelight"

Netherlands captain Robin van Persie has insisted that he is content not to be the centre of attention right now.

The Manchester United frontman claimed the headlines early on by scoring three times during Holland's opening two World Cup group encounters, but he has since failed to find the net.

However, ahead of tomorrow's semi-final against Argentina, Van Persie has insisted that the tournament is about the team and not any personal accolades.

"This World Cup is not about Robin van Persie. It is about our team doing well. I love a big tournament, but I don't need to have the limelight," he told FIFA.com. "We're a squad of 23 players. The atmosphere is excellent. I don't have anything at all to complain about."

Despite having appeared in three finals, the Dutch have never won the World Cup.
