Daley Blind refuses to consider Netherlands Euro 2016 failure

Blind refuses to consider Dutch failure

Netherlands defender Daley Blind has insisted that he is refusing to think about the team failing to qualify for Euro 2016.

The Dutch are currently fourth in Group A, two points adrift of third-placed Turkey, and can now only reach next summer's tournament in France via the playoffs.

Netherlands, who are now coached by Daley's father Danny Blind, must win both their final qualifiers and hope that Turkey drop points against Czech Republic and Iceland in order to pip them to the playoff spot.

"It's very important for us to get third in the group," the Manchester United player told the club's official website. "Unfortunately, we don't have it in our own hands anymore. Turkey have to lose and we need to win both of games. That's our job.

"We're not giving up at the moment. We have to fight but we have to see what happens. They are two tough games we have to win but it's not only about that.

"If we want to have the chance to get to the Euros, there are no doubts about it - we have to win and Turkey must drop some points. It will be a shame if we don't make it but I don't want to think about that now."

Netherlands play Kazakhstan on Saturday before hosting Czech Republic three days later.
